NEWS UPDATE .:. July 21st

   +James Hardy is out in California right now traveling and hanging with fellow Faith riders, Ben Gilley and Justin Holmes.  We regret to report that James took a very scarey fall which wound up putting him in the Hospital for a few hours.  Thankfully he is ok!   If you have seen "Reason to Believe", James told us that he got knocked out worse than his TKO at the beginning of the slam section.  After all was said and done, he walked out of the hospital fine with minor injuries.   James claims to be skating again in just a few days!

Faith Skate Supply is lucky enough to team up with 'Es Footwear and
have a huge "Es Game of Skate". This is one of the major ones!
Winner will receive an all expense paid trip to California in September
to compete in the ASR real deal " 'Es Game of Skate" contest! Other

+Congratulations to Faith Team rider Riley Cutcliffe on his trifecta of first place finishes this past week at all of Alabama's contests. Riley took first place at Ride Skateboard's best trick contest as well as Faith's "Go Skateboard Night" contest and finally this weekend at the Montgomery Skatepark $500 winner take all contest!

+ Ben Gilley is currently out on the road on "Emerica's Wild Ride Tour".The tour is a Harley Davidson sponsored trip across the U.S. with tons of demos and autograph signings. Ben will hook up with other Birmingham Homies in Chicago, Illinois on the annual "Go Skateboarding Day". Their trip will end in California at the Blackbox Headquarters for some shredding out west! +Ben Gilley is currently out in California staying at the BlackBox Headquarters.   He said the new facility housing (Fallen, Zero, Mystery) is nothing but amazing.   Imagine a Walmart sized building full of skateboards, skate shoes, the best skatepark ever, team rider apartments, etc....
Sounds like Ben went to sleep and woke up in a dream!  Stay tuned to Slap Magazine for an interview with Ben in the next couple of months. Ben is starting a Thrasher Magazine interview during his stay in California.   

+James Hardy is at home in Huntsville, Al. filming for the new Real video. Check out the new intro video from Real Skateboards "Life and Times". Available now!

+Riley Cutcliffe is recovering from a severe sprained ankle while out filming one night. He should be back on board a bit by now, but the road to full recovery takes a while. We wish him a speedy recovery!

+Alan Poole and Kraig Kirk are constanly skating and filming for a new local video entitled "Unfocus".

  
+Justin Holmes has just spent a month here in Bama, and is currently in Philly skating everyday!  Justin has recovered very well since his big accident, and luckily skating at his full potential again!

+Peter Karvonen (owner of Faith) recently received the "Andy Spinosi Award" for 2006.   Both Ride Skateboards and SkateAlabama.com awarded Peter with this award on the night of the Alabama Old School Skateboard Reunion.    "The Andy Spinosi Award is presented in honor of an individuals dedication and outstanding contribution to skateboarding in Alabama"

+It was sick to see our very own James Hardy skate in the Real demo out at the new skatepark in Alabaster!   Brian at Ride did a great job and seems everyone had a great time!

+Congrats to our own Ben Gilley for landing a two page spread in the newest Thrasher Magazine and WHAT?????? BEING THE NEWEST ADDITION TO THE ZERO TEAM???? BEN IS UNBREAKABLE!!!!

Feb. 23rd 2006-Carlsbad, CA.

Black Box is proud to announce the addition of professional skateboarder Ben Gilley to the Zero Team. With his unmistakable style of skateboarding, Ben is a perfect addition to Zero and the Black Box family. Gilley has delivered amazing video parts since his debut in 2001 and most recently in the 2005 independent release “Reason to Believe”.

Ben is currently residing in Alabama and will split his time between Birmingham and San Diego as he continues to film and shoot photos for upcoming projects. The release date of Ben’s first Zero pro model has yet to be determined.

Jamie Thomas says of the addition; “Ben epitomizes the heart and determination that Zero was founded on. I find his raw skate style an inspiration and a perfect fit for Zero.”

Ben added,”I’ve always felt like an unofficial Zero team rider because I’m friends with everyone at Zero and Black Box. I was packing boxes for Zero a few years ago and now I’m on the team… It’s amazing!”

+News with the Faith guys? James Hardy is in San Francisco with the Real Team filming for their new video. Word has it that James may travel to Norway soon? Ben Gilley is at home in Bama skating and riding Dirt Bikes. Ben has parted ways with Black Label Skateboards, yet he is very content with the seperation. Perhaps Ben wants to find the fun in skateboarding again without the stressful "career", or perhaps we will see what comes of Ben in the future... (we are behind him regardless!!) Justin Holmes is living in Bama right now, recovering from his head injury. Justin is skating daily at the skatepark and regaining his natural abilities on his skateboard. No jumping down stuff just yet, but a lot of practice for his perfection!! Both Peter Karvonen and Brian Tedder will be taking a step back in '06 and letting the young guns come forward!! It's been a long time since Faith has added shop riders, and with "Reason To Believe" finished, we feel its now time to scout out new talent!! '06 will open doors for some new rippers!! We have great respect for those that have stuck with us all of these years, and we will invite some new additions too!! Stay tuned for more info on the next crop of followers!!!

+Here is the rumored news which is true.... Ben Gilley has parted ways with long time sponsor Black Label Skateboards. After 5 years on the Label they have decided to look toward the future, and cut some of the team. This is the harsh reality of "the industry" that we dont see here in the south. Ben is still skating strong and not bothered by the dismissal. Ben has last part in our new video "Reason To Believe" and it is well deserved! We are behind Ben 100% as always and will continue to promote him for years to come!! Family doesn't die!! Never forget that!!!!!!!!!! 

+Speaking of Family... Faith has recently been the host to a raffle benefiting one of our brothers (Justin Holmes) during his time of need. Justin was seriously injured while filming for "Reason To Believe". After staying 1 1/2 weeks in the intensive care unit in an Atlanta Hospital and almost another week in a normal hospital room during recovery Justin has been released. Justin has been home for almost a month now and is recovering well. His medical bills as well as therapy bills are enormous and we are trying to help. Faith is hosting a raffle with over $2000 worth of skateboard products as well as top pro's autographed decks to be given away on Dec. 1st and Jan. 1st. The first of the two drawings have been chosen and here are the winners for December.

+First lets start with the most important stuff: Justin Holmes is doing way better!! He will be coming home tomorrow from the hospital in Atlanta for therapy here in Birmingham. We are stoked to have our little buddy back and he is beginning to recover very well. It will be a while before Justin is back to skating, but we are just thankful to have our good friend back with us!!

+The first round of new Faith gear is starting to come in stock. The infamous Faith "You Will Die" graphic is now in stock in both tee shirt and zip up hoodie!! Limited runs of both--so get them while you can!!

+"Reason to Believe" video premiere still on Friday November 4th!! Tons of stuff going on: Video Premiere, Bands, Dunking Booth, Giveaways, Benefits for Justin's recovery, and even some big names in skateboarding in attendance!! Jamie Thomas has a full part in the video, and yes he will be there for the premiere!!!

+Faith is setting up tons of stuff to benefit Justin Holmes and his Family during their time of need. We will be raising money to help Justin and his Family at the premiere and for a long time to come. +The Faith Skate Supply family wishes Justin Holmes (Faith team rider/best friend) a speedy recovery!! Justin was seriously hurt while filming for the video "Reason To Believe". He has sustained a major injury to his head and is currently in a hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Justin is amongst friends and family in Atlanta right now and showing signs of recovery!! Justin is one of the best skateboarders to watch and skate with!! Everyone on the Faith team is devistated by this accident---not because of it happening to a fellow skater--but because we all love Justin like a brother. Please keep Justin in your thoughts and prayers during his time of recovery!!!! Faith Skate Supply will be setting up benefits to help him and his family with doctor bills and living expenses, in hopes of getting him back on a skateboard very soon!!! WE LOVE YOU JUSTIN!! We here at Faith Skate Supply sincerely hope everyone and their families are alright after the devestating Hurricane Katrina. We want to help in our own way! Faith will donate $2 from every skateboard deck sold this month of September to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Extra Donations will be welcome and all money generated will be Donated on October 3rd.

+Ok --so we jumped the gun thinking we would be ready for our re-grand opening of Faith. Well lets just say we were ready, nonetheless our new shop is not quite ready! Faith will re-open on Friday June 10th for normal store hours at our new location. Faith will be open in our old location until Saturday June 4th. We will have sales and such at our old location on Saturday June 4th for everyone who has been waiting on our "New Shop Grand Opening". Faith will be closed June 5th through June 9th for moving purposes.

+Justin Holmes made it back to Bama to finish filming for "Reason To Believe". We promise thats the real reason--it wasn't him running out of money in Texas, nor his new Girlfriend here!

+Though we havent heard from our friend Gareth Stehr in a while, we hear he is turning "pro" for Foundation Skateboards! Congrats Buddy--we would love to see you on our side of the world soon!

+The Real Skateboards team was just in town skating with our good buddy James Hardy. We hear they spent the better part of the week in Atlanta, then traveled over here to spend the weekend filming in Birmingham. James told us that they got so much done in our cities, that they might make an article out of it in Slap or Thrasher magazine. The guys on Real are "real"ly nice guys and we are stoked to see footage from other spots than California. (Aren't we all sick of seeing Hollywood High rails and Wilshire rails?) Big Ups to the guys that venture out to unchartered territories!!!
